For 7 years I owned and managed a thriving marketing company. I enjoyed building my business, but after having my second son in 2011 and returning to work 3 weeks later, my lack of fulfillment and passion was undeniable.

Not long after, I found myself on a journey – given the opportunity, how would I rebuild my business to better serve my life and bring me and my clients a greater sense of fulfillment? What I found was a very 21st century entrepreneur’s problem – I’d lost my soul in today’s business world, I thought bigger was better and I found myself with a big company, lots of employees and clients, and a ton of obligation I didn’t want.

I found that I suffered from what a lot of my clients were suffering from – I wasn’t clear enough on my goals and what I wanted to create. I needed to rebuild my business to serve my life and my needs before I could experience success and fulfillment.

I was afraid to make such a drastic change until I came across an article in which the author asked The Universe for a sign that she was doing the right thing – a red balloon. I thought ‘ok, Universe, if this is what I should be doing, give me a red balloon.’ This was a huge leap of faith, a sign from The Universe would be comforting. That day, no red balloon. The next day… no red balloon. Well, what the f*ck?

The next day was a Saturday, we got up to take our oldest son to soccer. We struggled through finding missing shoes, brushing teeth, getting everyone dressed and loaded into the car. I sat in the grass with my husband and younger son, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air when I looked up, and there it was… one single, tiny red balloon floating higher and higher into the blue sky.

Today, I help my clients find their own red balloons – I am an established speaker and author, I offer group coaching to individuals going through personal and professional transitions, and my company offers marketing consulting to companies including digital and social media and content development that makes a genuine connection with customers.
